Book Summaries & Notes: Born Out of Necessity
I read. A lot.
The trouble is that in the absence of repetition, I tend to have a lousy memory for things, and lessons learned tend to fall into the ever expanding blackhole that is my brain. It’s completely normal for me to read a one-off book on Management/Leadership, have 30+ “Ah ha!” moments in the process, finish the book and move onto the next one, completely forgetting 95% of the ideas within just a few days. And though I recognize this as a problem, I can rarely justify the time it takes to re-read your average 250+ page book in order to reinforce these lessons and ideas.
This project serves the purpose of correcting this problem. “Project” is probably an inappropriate term. Let’s be honest and call it what it is – this is me getting my shit together and becoming a more effective learner and student.
Going forward, this page will comprise a list of books I’ve read that I have found to be impactful. Each book will have a short, descriptive summary and a link to more detailed notes, thoughts, and quotations. You can use the ISBN number to find it at your local library or have it ordered by your local bookstore. For those looking for more details and reviews, or to purchase it directly, there is an Amazon.com link.
I expect to update this page regularly, so feel free to bookmark it and check back periodically.
